Well Drillers

The Environmental Health Program permits all new wells in the county. Permit applications are reviewed for well siting and separation along with accurate legal descriptions.  Completed wells are inspected for compliance with NR 812 and recorded by GPS for inclusion in database, along with location of septic/holding tanks and drainfield/mound systems.

We also review well abandonment forms and locations for all replacement wells.

Applications for high capacity wells must still go through the WI-DNR.

Well Grant Information

• The Department of Natural Resources offers a Well Compensation Grant Program which provides funding to eligible landowners or renters to replace, reconstruct or treat contaminated private water supplies that serve a residence or provide water to livestock. To be eligible, family income may not exceed $65,000 for the prior calendar year or financial hardship funding is determined.
