Dunn County Comprehensive Plan & Farmland Preservation Plan Update
The 2010-2030 Dunn County Comprehensive Land Use Plan was initially adopted by the Dunn County Board of Supervisors on November 10, 2009, and later revised in 2016 to incorporate the Farmland Preservation Plan. Wisconsin law requires that comprehensive plans be reviewed and updated at least once every 10 years.
Dunn County, with assistance from the West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (WCWRPC), is updating its Comprehensive Plan and Farmland Preservation Plan. Together, these plans provide a roadmap for the future of Dunn County and serve as a guide for decision-making related to growth, development, agriculture, natural resources, and the overall well-being of the community over the next 20 years.

How to Review the Draft Materials:
The draft materials include the updated Comprehensive Plan, supporting appendices, and Future Land Use Map resources. Each resource provides a different level of detail to help residents, landowners, and stakeholders understand the proposed vision for Dunn County.

Draft Comprehensive Plan:
1. Draft Comprehensive Plan and Farmland Preservation Plan - "DRAFT PLAN"
The main plan includes the county's vision, goals, policies, and recommendations to guide future land use and decision-making over the next 20 years.

2. Draft Plan Appendices - Existing Conditions
The appendices provide supporting information used to develop the plan, including existing conditions, background data, maps, public input summaries, and technical information.
3. Draft Future Land Use Map:
The updated Comprehensive Plan introduces a Future Land Use Map with revised categories designed to better reflect current development patterns, rural character, and the county’s long-term vision. New classifications include areas such as Rural Hamlet, Rural Mixed-Use Corridor, Rural Commercial, and Rural Neighborhoods, among others. *You can submit comments on map changes by dropping a pin at the location you wish to comment on within the interactive map.
The previous Comprehensive Plan included a Preferred Land Use Map, which identified broad future land use categories such as residential, residential-agriculture, farmland, low-density residential, and commercial areas.
The Future Land Use Map is intended to provide a general guide for future land use decisions and should be viewed as a long-range planning tool. It does not change current zoning, property ownership, or existing permitted uses. Any future changes to zoning or land use regulations would require separate review and public processes.

How to Provide Comments:
Public input is an important part of the planning process. Comments may be submitted on any portion of the draft materials, including the written plan, appendices, and Future Land Use Map.
To help organize and review feedback, please submit a separate form for each comment. When submitting a comment, identify the document, page number or map location (if applicable), and describe your comment and/or suggested revision.
