Mission Statement

Roads are used by ALL segments of our taxpayers PLUS outside travelers here for recreation, conducting business and INSPECTING our community for possible future business and personal INVESTMENT. The voting public in numerous documented surveys has time and again supported increased taxes when they are SPECIFICALLY designated to highway and safety improvements.

Our goals are the same TODAY as they have been in the PAST and will be the same in the years AHEAD – To Provide the Best Possible Highways Permitted with the Dollars Budgeted. A Good Transportation System is the Backbone of our Community.

Notices

  • Replacement of the existing North Branch Wilson Creek Bridge on County Q
    • During construction, this section of County Q at the North Branch Wilson Creek Bridge would be closed to traffic. No detour route would be provided. Access to property would not be restricted during construction. Construction is anticipated in 2026.

  • Improvements to CTH V at Flayton Creek
    • The Dunn County Highway Department is planning improvements for CTH V over Flayton Creek. Project information can be found in the notice below. Individuals are Encouraged to contribute comments about the bridge project by June 30, 2024.

    • Date of Closure: June 10 – 19, 2024 
    • Location: 90th St. (CTH N – CTH Q) Town of Lucas 
    • Reason for Closure: Installation of a Precast Concrete Box Culvert 
    • Duration: Approximately 10 days (weather permitting)

  • Vegetation Management & Herbicide Application
    • The Dunn County Highway Department maintains 425 centerline miles of county roadways with approximately 3700 acres of right of way. Dunn County Highway has historically applied herbicides to the County right of ways to combat invasive vegetation such as wild parsnip, chervil, and other broadleaf weed species that are potentially harmful to individuals health. Once again the Highway Department will be applying herbicides along the County highway system starting in early May for approximately 2-3 weeks.

Christmas Tree Recycling

The Dunn County Highway Department will make their tree chipping units available for grinding Christmas trees at County Highway Shops.  These chips will be used for mulch, saving landfill space by recycling the trees.

People interested in recycling their trees should bring them to the County Highway Shops at Menomonie, Boyceville, Colfax, Eau Galle, North County (STH 25 & 64), or the Rock Falls salt-shed between the hours of 7 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through mid January.

Adopt a Highway

  • The Adopt-A-Highway program allows groups to volunteer and clean up roadside litter throughout Dunn County on the County Trunk Highway System.
