- What is the Parcel Identification Number (PIN)?
- A PIN is a unique number used for identifying a tract of land. PIN numbers are integral in quickly retrieving ownership, tax, assessment, and zoning details for a tract of land. To better understand the PIN format, see our Parcel Identification Number PIN Guide.
- What is a CSM?
- A CSM is a Certified Survey Map. A CSM is a minor subdivision of land used to create no more than 4 new parcels in a five year timeframe. A CSM may also be used to combine contiguous parcels of land. Once approved, CSMs are recorded at the Register of Deeds office
- What is "Estimated Fair Market Value"?
- Estimated Fair Market Value reflects the approximate fair market value of your property as of January 1 on your tax bill. It is determined by the Assessed Value divided by the Ratio of Assessment (WiDOR).

- Where can I find a property's legal description?
- A legal description for a property is recorded at the Register of Deeds Office. An abbreviated version also appears on your real estate tax bill. Only the description recorded with the Register of Deeds can be used to transfer lands.
- Where can I receive a copy of my deed?
- The Register of Deeds Office can provided copies of deeds. Fees are associated.
- How do I change the mailing address for my tax bill?
- The Treasurer’s Office is responsible for address changes. You may also request the change online.
- How can I view tax map details?
- Where can I find a plat book?
- How can I find a survey for a property?
- Check with the Dunn County Surveyor’s Office, search maps of survey on our GIS site, or search the Register of Deeds Office.
- How can I find a Plat?
- Plats are recorded with the Dunn County Register of Deeds Office.
- How can I tell if there are easements on my property?
- Easements of many different types can exist within many different documents. It is recommended to contact a legal professional or title company to identify what easements exist within a tract of land.
- How do I determine if a property is in the floodplain?
- Check out our interactive GIS Portal. If the property is very close to the floodplain or you have any questions, contact the Dunn County Zoning or Survey departments.
