Well Testing Information
It is recommended that you test your well annually for nitrates and bacteria. Additionally, you should test at least once for arsenic. If arsenic is detected, it is recommended that you continue to test yearly. Dunn County Health Department
If you are pregnant or have a child under 12 months of age in your home, a test kit for bacteria, nitrates, and fluoride is available to you, free of charge. This kit and postage is paid for by the Dunn County Health Department and can be obtained through their office.
Certified Well Water Testing
With the exception of the kits for new or expecting parents, the resident wishing to have their well sampled will need to pay for the tests, however supplies are available at the Dunn County Government Center.
- UW-Stevens Point - Kits for nitrates and bacteria testing through UW-Stevens Point are available at the Environmental Services Department in the Dunn County Government Center. Tests for metals, fluoride, and pesticides are available through UW-Stevens Point, but you will need to contact them for the appropriate sampling kit. - Commercial Testing Lab in Colfax - Kits for nitrates and bacteria testing through CTL are available at both the Environmental Services and Health Departments located in the Dunn County Government Center.
