Public Health Nursing

Dunn County Public Health Nurses provide the following services:

  • Home visits to parents of newborns
  • Immunizations
  • Blood pressure screening and referral
  • Tuberculosis screening, testing for exposure, and medication for prevention of disease
  • Developmental screening and referral
  • Vision and hearing screening and referral
  • Smoking cessation information and referral
  • Pregnancy testing and referral for prenatal care
  • Nutrition education and referral for WIC services, other dietician services
  • Oral health education, screening and referral
  • Private well water testing information for families with children
  • Car seat information and installation
  • Environmental lead risk screening, testing and referral as well as education about risk reduction
  • Referral to the Child Alert Network for Children with Special Health Care Needs
  • Men’s and women’s health education and referral
  • Communicable disease education, prevention, and referral (pertussis, lymes, norovirus, etc.)
  • Linking to community services in the area of health and safety
  • Advocacy for access to health care services, a safe and healthy environment and promoting positive health practices 
  • Prenatal and Postpartum Education through Healthy Beginnings Plus
  • Nurse Family Partnership Programs
