Public Health Emergency Preparedness

The Dunn County Health Department - Emergency Preparedness team operates often discreetly from other health department public-facing work, but are an important part of our county’s entities who respond to emerging disasters. Behind the scenes, our team is responsible for the internal departmental planning for, responding to, and recovering from any kind of disaster that affects our local community with the support of other entities, such as Dunn County Emergency Management. Additionally, many Dunn County businesses and organizations play an integral role through partnerships with the Health Department in this planning process, too.

Within Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP), there are 15 National Standards that describe the roles that govern effective community preparedness planning and response efforts. These capabilities include:
